The Intensive 2.0

April 6 - 11, 2026

Hosted online and in-person in Los Angeles, California from April 6 - 11, 2026, The Intensive 2.0 celebrates the 10 year anniversary of LAFCI with this unique 8-day total workshop addressing the demands of the modern media composer. The Intensive 2.0 provides a comprehensive experience for accepted Fellows with 3 unique recording sessions including recording a hybrid orchestra while writing to a selected film clip, creating and recording a song with LAFCI alumnus and singer/songwriter Jesse Carmichael (Maroon 5), as well as conducting your original composition with a full orchestra recording session with the Hollywood Studio Symphony.

This workshop will focus on conducting, composition, orchestration, body movement, music preparation and include special guests ranging from composers to entertainment industry executives. All conducting sessions will be recorded as well as there will be a private screening featuring all of the recorded hybrid session films. This workshop will be limited to a maximum of 14 Fellows and no more than 10 Auditors.  Live instrumentation for the hybrid recording session is strings (3/3/2/2/1) and final orchestra session 2222  4331  3perc + Harp + Piano + strings (8/6/6/6/2) with standard woodwind doublings and a basic orchestral percussion setup (detailed percussion list to be made available at a later date).

LAFCI is committed to providing a safe environment for all to learn and work and will abide by all COVID safety protocols as required by both the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the respective studios. At this time, vaccinations are highly recommended but not required.
