First Associate Concertmaster Nathan Cole, who joined the LA Phil in 2011, has appeared as guest concertmaster with the orchestras of Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Houston, Ottawa, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon. He was previously a member of the Chicago Symphony and Principal Second Violin of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. A native of Lexington, KY, he made his debut with the Louisville Orchestra at the age of 10 while studying with Donna Wiehe. After eight years working with Daniel Mason, Cole enrolled at the Curtis Institute of Music. In addition to his studies there with Pamela Frank, Felix Galimir, Ida Kavafian, and Jaime Laredo, Cole formed the Grancino String Quartet, debuting in New York’s Weill Hall. Several summers at Marlboro enriched his love of chamber music. 

Alyssa Park established an international reputation at age sixteen for being the youngest prizewinner in the history of the Tchaikovsky International Competition. 

As a soloist, Ms. Park has concertized extensively throughout Europe. She has

performed with Sir Colin Davis and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra as well as appearances with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, and the Czech Philharmonic.

In addition to her concertizing, Ms. Park is also a frequent concertmaster in the

Hollywood studios. She is currently CM for Michael Giacchino, Kris Bowers, Mark

Isham, Mychael and Jeff Danna, Jeff Russo, Jon Erlich, Rob Simonsen, Simon Franglen as well as Principal for John Williams, James Newton Howard, Ludwig Gorannson, and Danny Elfman just to name few.

She attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and UCLA, where she received a Master’s Degree in Viola Performance. She performs regularly with such ensembles as the LA Opera Orchestra and LA Master Chorale. As a chamber musician, she has been described as “…a soulful violist” by the LA Times. Alma is  a member of the Eclipse Quartet, an ensemble dedicated to performing contemporary music, which has released recordings under Bridge Records, New World, and Microfest. She has been featured as a soloist with the Pepperdine University Orchestra, the Jacaranda Chamber Music series, People Inside Electronics, and Electronics Live! at UC Riverside, where she premiered new works for Viola & Electronics. Alma is also active in the Los Angeles recording industry, having played for numerous motion picture soundtracks, television shows, and record albums.

Andrew Shulman, virtuoso cellist, chamber musician and conductor, is principal cello with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, professor of cello at USC Thornton School of Music, cellist with Los Angeles Piano Trio and The New Hollywood String Quartet and principal guest conductor of the CCSO. 

He has performed as soloist with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin-in-the Fields, City of Birmingham Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony, Utah Symphony, Singapore Symphony, Los

Angeles Philharmonic, the London Chamber and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestras.

Recordings span some 40 albums with the Britten Quartet (EMI), Vivaldi cello concertos (Virgin), Janacek (EMI), Delius (Heritage Continuum), and he has commissioned many composers to write concertos for the cello, including James Newton Howard, Bruce Broughton, Christopher Stone and

Maria Newman.

Karl Vincent was raised in the East Bay of San Francisco Bay Area.His deep passion for music started at an early age as he began his music studies at the age of 10 on the guitar, later the violin, and then moved to the bass at 13. His teachers include bass masters Petrio Mercurio, Milt Kestenbaum, Arni Egilsson, Stanley Clarke, and his mentor - legendary bassist Red Callender. UCLA took notice of Karl's potential and he enrolled under a full music scholarship, one of several awards he would receive that also includes a grant from National Endowment for the Arts. You are more likely to find Karl as a soloist or either in or leading the bass section on feature movies, TV shows, live concerts, and acting or cameo appearances on TV, in commercials, and movies.
