The LAFCI Summer Session is designed for alumni of the The Intensive workshops who are seeking more podium time to further their conducting technique and rehearsal skills with a live orchestra. The Summer Session will host daily sessions with string quintet and full orchestra, culminating with a live concert with each participant conducting their own piece with the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra located in the capitol city of Bangkok. Each participant will receive video and audio recordings of their work as well as video footage of each session with the orchestra.

The Summer Session will focus on film repertoire, participant piece, technique sessions and will be led by faculty member Angel Velez. Below are samples of repertoire, subject to change, with a full list being made available at a later date:

  • D. Newman, Matilda (punches and streamers)

  • J. Williams, Main Title from Star Wars Suite for Orchestra

  • W. Bernstein, The Magnificent Seven

  • J. Williams, Hedwig's Theme from Harry Potter

  • D. Rachou, Majestic Planet

  • E. Korngold, The Seahawk

  • J. Williams, Tribute to the Film Composer

  • L. Göransson, Suite from Black Panther

Only 10 spaces will be made available for this unique opportunity to work with a professional orchestra on a daily basis.

Financial aid consideration is not available for this workshop.

Fee: $3,600 USD

(includes 7 nights single room at Millennium Hilton Bangkok, breakfast and daily transportation to and from rehearsal venue)

Site Title

Upon acceptance, half of tuition (a non-refundable deposit) will be due no later than March 1 to hold your spot in the workshop.  The remaining balance must be received no later than June 16.
